His father, Yayati Taide, is a professor at Deshmukh Agricultural University, and his mother, Devyani Taide, is a homemaker. Growing up alongside his sister Vaibhavi, Atharva discovered cricket at age nine with a plastic bat in his backyard—his father even built him a home practice net and installed a bowling machine, so he could train late into the night.
Atharva attended Bishop Cotton School in Nagpur, before moving to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar College for studies. Alongside education, he honed his cricketing skills at the Nagpur Cricket Academy, laying a strong foundation for his professional journey.
Rising Through Domestic Ranks
In December 2018, Atharva Taide made his First-Class debut for Vidarbha in the Ranji Trophy. Earlier that year, he had made headlines by scoring a remarkable 320 in the Cooch Behar Trophy final, showcasing his potential at the junior level. Early IPL Exposure with Punjab Kings
Taide entered the IPL arena in 2022, when Punjab Kings (PBKS) signed him as an emerging domestic talent. Over two seasons (as of 2024), he has played 9 IPL matches, scoring 243 runs with a strike rate of approximately 137 and a top score of 66. In IPL 2023, he gained widespread attention by becoming one of the rare players to retire out tactically during an innings—after scoring 55 off 42 balls against Delhi Capitals. The move was praised for its team-first intent and strategic thinking.
A New Home in Hyderabad
At the 2025 IPL Auction, SRH acquired Atharva Taide for ₹30 lakh, recognizing his left-hand strength and potential as a top-order asset. His ability to provide early momentum and adaptability has made him a valuable squad addition. SRH’s management sees him as a promising back-up opener or powerplay specialist.
Role and Impact in IPL 2025
Although Atharva hasn’t consistently held a starting spot yet, he has offered spark in middle-order cameos and contributed off the bench. His aggressive intent remains his signature: high strike-rate performances that can shift momentum. He’s viewed as a reliable depth-player capable of delivering quickfire innings during crunch moments .
While the 2025 IPL season is still unfolding, SRH’s flexible approach with batting order and tactical rotation suit Taide’s skill set—especially as they build a youthful, dynamic core.
Personal Life: Quiet But Committed
Atharva keeps his personal life far from the limelight. As of 2025, he is unmarried and has no children. He shares occasional glimpses of family moments, especially with his sister and parents, on social media, maintaining a healthy balance between professional focus and personal space.
Batting Philosophy & Leadership Qualities
As a left-handed batsman, Taide combines power and precision—a hallmark of modern T20 batting. He’s built a reputation for repeating consistent middle-order cameos and stepping up under pressure. While not yet in a formal leadership role, Taide’s maturity—rooted in early discipline—suggests he could evolve into a dependable batting custodian for SRH.
What Lies Ahead
At 25 years old, Atharva Taide is entering a decisive phase. With SRH, he faces a fresh opportunity to cement his place. His mix of career experience, youthfulness, and adaptability makes him a compelling bet for future growth—domestically and potentially internationally. If he continues leveraging his aggression and refining his situational approach, Taide’s steady hands may shape a bright future in the IPL and beyond.
In sum, Atharva Taide reflects the underdog spirit: solid batting fundamentals, a supportive family backing, and a quiet but resolute ambition. With Sunrisers Hyderabad as his platform, and no family ties yet to influence his career path, he remains a focused, young sportsman making early strides toward a promising legacy.
