On December 15, 1999, Digvesh Singh Rathi was born in Delhi, India. He never fit the mold of a fast bowler with a lot of power because he was 5' 7", skinny, and focused. Rather, he decided to enter cricket with spin, more especially right-arm leg-break. His talent was evident early on as he put in a lot of effort at the grassroots level. His big break came in 2017 when he was chosen to play net bowling for the Kolkata Knight Riders, which allowed him to observe top-tier cricket up close.

Making a Mark in Domestic Cricket

Digvesh's career took off during the Delhi Premier League (DPL) in 2024. He became one of the most influential bowlers in the event while playing for the Shastri Cricket Club, where he produced game-winning spells. He finished seventh among the top wicket-takers with 14 wickets in 10 games at an economy rate of 7.83. His DPL performances were widely recognized, and IPL teams soon began to take notice of his steady breakthroughs and tense middle-overs periods.

The IPL Breakthrough with Lucknow Super Giants

Digvesh Singh was acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the 2025 IPL auction for ₹30 lakh. This was viewed by many as a calculated purchase that paid off nearly instantly. He made his debut against the Delhi Capitals on March 25, 2025, and he made an immediate impression by getting rid of seasoned all-rounder Axar Patel three balls into the match. It was a dramatic beginning that hinted at what was to follow.

Digvesh participated in 12 IPL 2025 games for LSG. He recorded best figures of 2 for 8 while taking 13 wickets at a bowling average of 25.30. He was mostly employed as a middle-over enforcer, used to break up batting lineup rhythms and induce breakthroughs with his astute variations. His leg-spin gave LSG's assault, which was mostly dependent on pace, much-needed variety.

The “Notebook” Celebration and Disciplinary Roadblocks

Digvesh Singh immediately gained notoriety for his bowling prowess but also for his vivacious celebrations of wickets. Every time he got rid of a batsman, he imitated writing down names in a make-believe notebook—a move made popular by other bowlers but viewed as offensive by the match officials.

Following a match against the Punjab Kings on April 1, 2025, he received one demerit point and a 25% match fee penalties for breaking the IPL's code of conduct. He was given two extra demerit points and a 50% fine for a second incident against the Mumbai Indians on April 11. When he dismissed Abhishek Sharma and then replicated the celebration against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 19, it was the last straw. After a heated argument, he received a 50% fine, his fourth demerit point, and a one-match suspension as a result of the act.

Although his festivities drew criticism, they also highlighted his fierce competitiveness. Digvesh is "obsessed with the craft," according to his coach Justin Langer, who also mentioned that he frequently spends hours bowling after practice. He is a great complement to the LSG setup because of his enthusiasm and commitment.

A Private Life Off the Field

Digvesh Singh maintains a very secluded life despite his growing celebrity. There is currently no publicly accessible information on his wife, kids, parents, or siblings. He has never been spotted on social media or in interviews talking about family issues. He seems to be completely focused on improving himself and playing cricket.

The Road Ahead

Digvesh Singh has had a very promising first IPL season with the Lucknow Super Giants.
