Nehal first came into prominence around age nine in Ludhiana’s district circuit. He played for Punjab’s Under‑16 and Under‑19 sides, notably scoring over 500 runs in the 2017–18 Cooch Behar Trophy. His ascension peaked in April 2022 when he smashed a record‑breaking 578 runs in an Under‑23 inter‑district semi-final—surpassing Brian Lara’s 501—earning significant acclaim.

Nehal Wadhera’s IPL journey began when the Mumbai Indians bought him in the December 2022 auction for ₹20 lakh, his base price. He made his IPL debut on 2 April 2023 against Royal Challengers Bangalore, where he impressed with a quickfire 21 off 13 balls, including a massive 101-meter six that grabbed attention.
