Shivam Dube
Position: All Rounder
Shivam Dube, was born in Mumbai on June 26, 1993, and was raised in a middle-class household. When Shivam turned his attention to cricket, his father, Rajesh Dube, who was originally from Uttar Pradesh, leased out his dairy and then a factory that was used to wash jeans. Shivam trained under Satish Samant after enrolling in the Chandrakant Pandit Cricket Academy. But he struggled with fitness and money at the age of 14, quitting cricket until he was 19. After making a return, he was selected for the Mumbai U-23 team and made his debut in important domestic competitions starting in 2016.
Domestic Success & IPL Breakthrough
Dube was a Mumbai domestic star thanks to his aggressive left-handed batting and effective medium-pace bowling. After making his debut in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in early 2016, he went on to achieve great success in List-A and first-class cricket, striking five sixes in an over during a Ranji Trophy match and scoring important hundreds. He was purchased by Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹5 crore in the 2019 Indian Premier League. He later played for the Rajasthan Royals in 2021 and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2022. His contribution to the IPL peaked in 2023 when he helped CSK win the championship with 418 runs at a strike rate of 158.
International Debut & Moments of Glory
Dube debuted for his country against Bangladesh in the T20Is and the West Indies in the ODIs towards the end of 2019. In the final match against South Africa, he scored 27 off 16 to help India end a 13-year ICC trophy drought and play a significant part in their win in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Under concussion substitution rules, he scored a quick 53 off 34 to win Player of the Match in the 2025 T20I series against England.
Family Life: The Quiet Pillars
On July 16, 2021, Shivam wed Anjum Khan in a wedding that combined Muslim and Hindu customs. His family first opposed it, but their love has remained interfaith. Ayaan, the couple's first child, was born in February 2022, and Mehwish, their daughter, was born in January 2025. Dube typically keeps his personal life calm and low-key, although he frequently posts peeks of his family on social media.
Role in Teams: Backbone With Bat & Ball
Shivam Dube, a spin-hitting specialist rather than a traditional bowling all-rounder, has made a name for himself at Chennai Super Kings as a formidable middle order batsman. Under MS Dhoni's guidance, he has flourished under duress, giving his role purpose and clarity. Even though he doesn't bowl for CSK very often, his medium-pace bowling in other formats gives strategy depth, and his ability to finish makes him a valuable asset in both international and IPL cricket.
2025 Season & Future Outlook
Dube collected three wickets and scored 80 runs in the 2024–25 Vijay Hazare Trophy. He scored 151 runs at an average of 75.50 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In anticipation of the 2025 IPL, CSK paid ₹12 crore to retain him, demonstrating their faith in his versatility. Dube, who is 31 years old, seems ready to establish himself in the national team, especially in limited-overs and Twenty20 international cricket.
Legacy of Power & Poise
Shivam Dube exemplifies modern cricket's blend of muscle and technique. From his Mumbai guru beginnings to heroic moments in Tata IPL and India’s resurgent T20 campaign, he represents resilience and refinement. Dube's journey is characterized by poise, balance, and unwavering ambition, and his grounded family life, head-down work ethic, and dynamic match influence confirm that it's much more than just power striking.
