Tripurana Vijay
Position: All-Rounder
Born in Tekkali, Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, on September 5, 2001, Tripurana Vijay has overcome adversity to emerge as one of the Delhi Capitals' most potential all-round players.
Early Life & Family
Vijay, who is about 5'10" (178 cm) tall and weighs about 60 kg, was raised in a modest and encouraging family in Ayyappanagar, Tekkali. His mother, Lavanya, is a stay-at-home mom, and his father, Tripurana Venkata Krishna Raju, works in the Andhra Pradesh Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department. His older brother, Vinay Tripurana, has been instrumental in helping Vijay's cricket career since he was a young boy.
Education & Cricket Beginnings
In order to balance his love of sports and academics, Vijay attended a college in his hometown and trained hard for cricket. His undeveloped potential was developed while he was a student at the Kadapa Cricket Academy. His early success in zonal and school-level competitions aided in his rise to prominence. In the 2013–14 Inter-district North Zone Under-14 tournament, he competed. Later, he made an impression in the Under-19 ACA North Zone tournament, taking 19 wickets and scoring 265 runs in two games.
Rising Through the Ranks
Vijay's incredible performance against Hyderabad in the 2021–22 Under-23 Interstate Tournament, where he claimed six wickets for 14 runs in 4.4 overs, was a turning point. He was accepted into the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru as a result of this performance, demonstrating his rising stature in domestic competitions. His reputation was further raised by his all-around talents while playing for the Godavari Titans in the Andhra Premier League (APL).
Domestic Stardom: Ranji Trophy 2024–25
Vijay's performance at the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy garnered headlines. He took a ten-wicket haul against Rajasthan, taking 5 for 62 in the first innings and 5 for 22 in the second, which was his most impressive performance to date. This outstanding all-around performance demonstrated his talent, poise, and ability to win games. He was a great asset since he could contribute with the bat as a right-handed middle-order player and with the ball as a right-arm off-spinner.
IPL Breakthrough: Delhi Capitals Acquisition
Vijay was purchased by the Delhi Capitals at the 2025 IPL mega-auction for ₹30 lakh. Being the first cricket player from Srikakulam to be signed by an IPL franchise, his selection was a source of pride for his region and city. Even local celebrities and political figures expressed their respect for his accomplishment. Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao, the co-owner of the Delhi Capitals, is also from the same area, which gave his choice an extra sense of regional pride.
Role on the Team
As an all-round bowler, Tripurana Vijay is renowned for his right-arm off-spin and right-handed batting. Despite not making many appearances in the starting lineup this IPL season, he is regarded as a rising player with a lot of long-term promise. Given his domestic results, especially in red-ball cricket, it appears that he may soon be becoming well-known in the shortest format as well.
Personal Life: Wife, Children & More
Tripurana Vijay is now single and childless. No information about a spouse or intimate connections is accessible to the general public. His family continues to be his main source of support as he pursues a prosperous cricket career.
